My first post

This seems like the perfect time to introduce myself. So Hi! I’m Kiri, I live in Pickering, Ontario in Canada…where the air hurts our face in winter (which is long).

Hi, I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Kiri and I am 42, married, mom to a 20 year old son. I don’t ever sit still (which drives The Hubby nuts)! I work a full-time job (banking), went to school for forensic anthropology (think of Bones, the TV show) and have multiple side hustles and interests. My parents are British, I was born in New Zealand and I live in Canada….so the trifecta of citizenship!

There will be some topics I touch upon regularly like food (I love food), DIYs, anything farmhouse and gardening. But then there will be loads more seemingly random subjects because in truth I am a domino thinker. One thought leads to another and I end up somewhere completely different! Call it might be my artistic nature or maybe I’m just scatterbrained.

But damnit my mum thinks I’m special and that’s good enough for me! So thanks for coming along on this wild blogging ride with me! Hopefully you will find something that speaks to you and that you find helpful, yummy, interesting. Maybe you’ll learn something new or teach me something!

My life revolves around my family, which at its heart is made up of my boys, my dog and my cats. I love my boys so much, they will forevermore be referred to as The Boy and The Hubby. The Boy is 20, taking a gap year (or two) and working (part-time). He super laid back, to the point of almost being horizontal.

The Hubby is 46 and my complete opposite, he struggles with depression and has a knack for projecting his feelings. If he’s happy everyone around him smiles but conversely if he’s down…..well let’s just say it sucks. The Hubby has done so many things from construction to snow making. As for the depression we take it one day at a time, but we deal with it as family.

Then there is our dog, Bacon, she’s absolutely ridiculous and I loved her to bits. She is a 5 year old French Bulldog x Boston Terrier…lots of energy but no stamina! She is a joy to be around and makes us laugh just about every day.

Last but not least we have the cats, Miss Kitty and Lion-o. They are sphynx cats which, while not everyone’s cup of tea, they are beautiful and amazing to me. Think of a cross between a cat and a dog…or as I refer to them puppy-cats! All they want nothing more than to be with you and give you endless love.

I think that’s enough for now. So until next time, stay crafty, centred and try to do more of what you love.

Kir
